Outdoor Humanist wedding photography – Rachel and Steven’s Scottish wedding at Fison Barn Earth Trust in Oxfordshire, with special guest appearance from Bonnie the dog! I was so excited for my first wedding dog, and Bonnie did not disappoint, rocking her jewelled collar and charming the guests (and the waiters distributing nibbles).
Since Rachel and Steven are both from Scottish families, they incorporated this into the day with their attire, an evening ceilidh dance set (I LOVE shooting ceilidh’s, they are fun, hilarious and unpredictable in equal measures) and some gorgeous tartan runners on the tables. Be sure to check out all the succulents on the tables as decorations and favours, Rachel and her family grew them all herself – I am a massive lover of succulents so I was in my element shooting them all.
Rachel and Steven had a relaxed and informal outdoor humanist wedding ceremony in the courtyard of the barn, and I love that they broke with tradition in regards to where people should stand. All guests were encourage to stand wherever they pleased in an informal circle to witness the ceremony and hand fasting ritual.
Although there were rumbles of thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, we were lucky enough not to catch any rain, and in fact a thundery sky made for some awesome atmosphere for their couples session!
I love a humanist ceremony and the variations and unique twists each couple can put on theirs – Rachel and Steven’s day was an absolute delight to shoot, and I can’t thank them enough for having me for their outdoor humanist wedding photography.
