Oxford wedding photography; A small and intimate wedding with a walking tour of Oxford, afternoon tea and punting on the river.
This post is a little longer than usual, as Rebecca and Johannes wedding day was a little different to the usual course of a wedding day. It was such a full and fun filled day that I got a little carried away in my post! With only 20 guests, they wanted something small and intimate, and to be able to treat them at the same time to a little tour of Oxford. So, getting married at the town hall in the morning meant they then had the rest of the day to relax with a champagne toast and a few portraits in the Malmaison hotel (former prison) before a little walking tour through the lovely streets and parks and stopping off for afternoon tea before a punt on the river. We then nipped back to the the beautiful Bodelian library for some gorgeous couples shots and finally headed back to the Jam Factory for dinner, speeches, dancing and cigars.
One of the many things I love about weddings is how different they can all be. Here I was treated as one of the family, and welcomed in to all the activities. It felt like seeing two great friends tie the knot, and leaping from boat to boat during punting was such a mad experience! I loved every minute, and I can’t thank Rebecca, Johannes and their family and friends enough for being so inviting, warm, loving and fun!
Once thing I should mention to any future brides and grooms concerning Oxford wedding photography – tourists LOVE you! So be prepared to feel a bit like a celeb and be stopped for a selfie as you walk through the streets!
There was a DJ playing some music in the city centre – so obviously we had to stop off for a wee dance!
I think I probably need to explain this bit! When I met Rebecca and Johannes for their engagement shoot, they took me on a walk of Oxford and said they wanted to go through this park – Rebecca was wary of the dirty old gate on her lovely wedding dress. So I suggested using an old sheet as a “wedding dress sheath” on the day- and it worked!
A big thank you to Rebecca and Johannes for showing me the beautiful sights of Oxford and choosing me for their Oxford wedding photography!
