The Union Paddington wedding photography – a super fun English / American wedding, with a first look in the Italian Gardens in Hyde Park, Polish vodka shots and crazy fun wedding party!
Where to begin with this wedding…..it was just so much fun from start to finish! Sami is from the States, and Nick is from the UK (with Polish heritage), and they both made sure to add elements of their own cultures to their wedding day. They met ahead of their ceremony with a first look at the Italian Gardens in Hyde Park – a first look is much more of an American traditional than a UK one. I spent the morning with Sami and her wedding party before heading over to the gardens, with my second shooter Ahmani hanging out with Nick, his groomsmen and a lot of whiskey. Ahmani and I set up the first look together, she arrived with Nick at the and the boys at the Italian Gardens first, and positioned him facing away from where Sami would be arriving. Then on my cue, Sami walked up to Nick and tapped him on the shoulder, so he could turn round and see how beautiful she looked. It was a really lovely moment, and the looks on both their faces was a wonderful thing to capture! Although first looks aren’t much of a thing here, I do always try to recommend them for winter weddings where couples would like some pictures together outdoors if there will be no daylight after their ceremony is complete. After a lovely couples session in the gardens (with MASSIVE thanks to Sami’s wedding party who formed a human barrier so tourists didn’t accidentally wander into shot) we headed on over to Mt Mary’s church on Paddington Green, where Sami and Nick entered to an epic rendition of the Game of Thrones theme tune on the organ. After the ceremony guests enjoyed champers and Hula Hoops (amazing combo) in a quick drinks reception with toasts from the wedding party.
The Union Paddington was the perfect venue for their laid back wedding reception – be sure to check out the entrances of each wedding party member! With a nod to Nick’s Polish heritage, speeches were toasted with Żubrówka vodka shots (paired with apple juice for those feeling less brave). Shots were a running theme of the evening, meaning that when party time came, the dance floor was BANGING! I had so much with with Sami and Nick at their The Union Paddington wedding, and I can’t thank them enough for having me for such a wonderful day.
